MS-DOS 7.10 comes with a utility called SHUTDOWN.EXE. I don't think there's source available for it though. You might want to check Ralf Brown's interrupt list; I'm sure there's something there that could be of use to you.

burger, stfu about LET. Some forms of BASIC still require it, and it's part of the ANSI standard.

No...there is no way to do this with traditional QB. QB PDS has something sort of what you're looking for, but it's not exactly the same.

Perhaps because it is the mostly widely used general purpose coding language in existence? I would register but I have no interest in Gameboy coding, sorry...I only do NDS and PCE.

There are still plenty of systems that can ONLY run 16 bit programs. Certain systems based on 65816 CPUs, for example, can only run 8 or 16 bit code. There are thousands of embedded systems out there that use 16 bit CPUs. They greatly benefit from a 16 bit compiler, even if it's BASIC. And I think j...

There are no free 16 bit BASIC compilers that are compatible with QB code, or even close enough to compatible. ASIC is about as close as you'll get, but good luck putting it to good use. You might also consider MoonRock.

The easier the language, the harder the compiler/interpreter. Taking that into consideration...look at how easy HTML is...now make an HTML interpreter. :D A world of difference in terms of challenge. Hrm...not a bad start. It's got quite a few rookie mistakes in it but it gets the job done at least. Keep working at it.

VB is far superior to Liberty Basic. Always has been, always will be.

BigBadKing, look into libraries such as FMOD, Bass, FBsound, etc. There are plenty to choose from.

In QB? Possible but improbable. There are two main ways of doing it: using a DOS-based TCP/IP stack or using a slave program. There were a couple of guys way, way back in the day who went the slave route (Pasco and leroy) but their game was never finished. Also, I once saw a QB site that was in Germ...
