Looks like games.qbasic.com was hit with the same spam-attack vulnerability we were hit with awhile back. To remedy it, you have to clean your source files, and then update all of your web system software, mainly php and mysql (if applicable), as well as (usually) apache itself. This particular att...

Joomla is pretty good. With the right layout and theme, it's almost undetectable. Most CMSes I see can be distinguished because of their layout and similar themes. Joomla would be good but I'd suggest either making or using a different theme than the original. On QB45, I wrote the CMS instead of usi...

I agree. We should ask what they're wishes are and if they decide to go along with it, we can make a better QBasic.com. I know N54's design is very old and somewhat resembles an old WWWBoard site, I would suggest for something simple but not overly simple. When Marcade and I were working on QB45, he...

If people agree to have it moved, I'll write a forum that mimics the one at N54. It's a simple design, but as long as there's a MySQL database and PHP available, I can do it. I'll try to make a crawler in PHP that'll read all the posts and record them into a MySQL database. It'll probably take a whi...

I think so too. I started losing interest in the QuickBASIC GUI Blog, so I passed the torch over to Brandon since he has more interest in it than me. It's just downright cold to leave a website up and not change anything but not let anyone go near it. I personally think a fair compromise would be to...

I think it might be because he gave up on it. I mean the site was hacked, shut down by its web host, and just left to rot. I'd personally fix it up but I don't know how much of a use it would be. Plus I've got finals coming up soon so I'll be even busier. Also, I don't know who did it, but there are...

I use a tool called IP-Atlas which does just the same as whatsmyipaddress.com but to a lesser extent. One of my forums is getting hit with spammers who try to cleverly disguise themselves as admins from other sites who say I've been placed on a ban list, but just Googling their message turns up resu...

If you enjoy doing that then fine. I don't think that Pete wants to constantly oversee that stuff. Especially spam! When you get older and wiser you will probably not be so inclined. I have to laugh at members doing it. You can prosecute easily when you have their IP and email address. User friendl...

Re: How it works at QB Station
No way should just anybody upload files! After all, they can't post here without logging in. You could get virus or trojan uploads from idiots too. If they want to upload a file, they need to at least join. Then you can go after the idiots! Anyone, even members, could upload trojans to any website....

When Marcade and I were bringing back QB45, I decided on the idea of having files uploaded but approved or denied by a moderator or admin. It's actually pretty decent for what it does. Most spam bots put nothing in the files and just load the descriptions with links. But at least I oversee what file...
