Thanks for the reply coderjeff. At a glance it may seem silly to have three different dialects, but in the end I think it will only increase fb's appeal. The oop stuff will inevitably make fb more complicated (nothing wrong with that) and fblite will be a good jumping on point for new users used to ...

That's really cool. Will all the new non-oop stuff be available? Also, will variables outside of procedures be considered global? Give me an example of what you meant by initializers working like assignments. I'm not sure I follow you. And thanks, you really put a lot of work into freebasic, and I f...

What you do with it is entirely up to you Pete. Personally, I love your site and your magazine. These are the main reasons I've kept coming back to this scene, but if your heart isn't in it anymore I think most of us will understand. As long as you keep making issues, though, I'll keep reading them....

I decided to post this here since there both related to what I'm working on. Anyway, what's the best way to 'erase' the last character in a string that you typed? I'm allocating a zstring for the thing I'm working on and I would like the last character I typed to be removed when I hit the backspace ...

Does anyone remember what the password was for the computer terminal in the technology level of LL? I tried back tracking to that first terminal, but it doesn't work anymore. It seems like it was something like FerUs or FarUS or something like that.

finding out the size of text
I'm trying to make a simple text editor for some projects I have in mind and I'm trying to figure out how big the character bitmaps are for text so I can allocate my line list strings to be the same width as the viewing area. The chart in the manual (I'm using gfxlib) lists two different character s...

I would love to see -lang depreciated changed to something like an extended qb dialect. Allowing pointers and 32bit stuff etc., but more procedural than oop. I'm just a hobbiest programmer, and don't really have any use for oop (I definitely don't have a coder's mentality) which is the main reason I...

I use FB instead of C because it brings everything together in a nice and neat little package. For some reason once you get out of ANSI C everything wants to become complicated and convoluted. I also like being able to, quickly, get something on the screen to play around with like I can with FB. Tha...
