Ummm....you'll probably get some replies like FreeBasic. A good Free Basic compiler that is 90% or over 90% compatible with QB. With lots of great functions, very fast, can make windows or console applications rather than DOS applications. So that's a good one to check out. RB is a little more like ...

No, the movement seems to be an interesting spin on movement through space. Since there's no friction in space you'd have to totally counteract initial movement before you can start in the next direction and this appears to be what's going on. Because after getting it to move left, it refused to mov...

One idea that it's dying is that it is DOS based. Not regular console based. So if DOS ever goes, so does QB unless you use a less modern computer when that time does come. Or unless you port DOS to the new system. I don't know the validity of that argument and won't even dare to speculate. I'm a wr...

Kurt Wagner a.k.a NightCrawler X-men evolution. And if you're american you don't speak English. And English is more than grammar and words. Its how the words are placed together. It's being able to take wortheless scribbles and make them into a work of art. It's the chance to share emotions and idea...

You make it sound like I wouldn't like people criticizing my work. After years of writing and posting short stories you tend to get use to such things. :D I just don't like the standard that most tutorials set for presenting programming. Besides, it's a rant. In the end they mean nothing. I didn't e...

I'm sorry I have a terrible time communicating what I'm trying to get at. I'm not saying they should only show them my example. The first one is fine, but to simply leave it at that without showing them how to take what they've already learned and use them to manipulate the program in different ways...

Basic tutorial rant and rave
DARN IT ALL!!!! I've noticed this each time I've started a new programming language. Their first if..then statements. The most recent to bust my bubble is this one for C++. Having been a long time since I've used the langauge I was reviewing it only to find something like this in a function for a qu...

the original question was how to add an If statement to the program. We all sort of got off track after what, the third or fourth post I think. When subs instead of GOTO came into what was posted. And so we're here. But the code has been offered, they can take which ever they want. They all work. So...

Dont' get me wrong, Goto is a great thing. But not all the time, subs are great, but not all the time. In the case of if they enter something other than one of the main options it should GOTO the input question again. However the selected option should have it's own space. I suggest using both not o...

My website
Okay, there is very little if anything there right now. But I hope to change that after I gain a few programs to put up. It's mostly Windows styled games so FB looks like a great language to use. But I'm getting off track. Basically my website is called AnciTech for Ancient Technologies. It's a retr...
