hows mine working now?? grtz Seb, You still have some problem. The first one I tried didn't work. FROM GMT-5 with time = 14:00 TO.... GMT+9 Result time at TO says 52:00 which is invalid. Other tests also produced invalid times greater than 23:59. Do some additional testing before you submit. Sorry....

So... you're doing the same challenge on www.qbasicnews.com... How's it going there?? grtz Seb At QBN we have a brilliant 100% solution posted by DrV. We have another solution which gives the correct time at the TO timezone, but still has problems with the "date adjustment". Another guy m...

Seb,

It was running real good until I entered the following:

FROM: GMT -5
time at FROM: 01:00
TO....: GMT -7

Result said it was 25:00 at GMT-7 ....(It should be 23:00)
with a date adjustment of -1 which is correct.

Should be a minor problem. Fix it and we'll try again.

Seb, Your latest version runs but gives the wrong answers. Examples: FROM: GMT-5 at 14:00 TO....: GMT+9 says 05:00 (should be 04:00) FROM: GMT-5 at 01:00 TO....: GMT-3 says 01:00 (should be 03:00) FROM: GMT-3 at 23:00 TO....: GMT-5 says 23:00 (should be 21:00) I suggest going back to your original v...

Seb,

When you were fixing it, you must have broken something, 'cause it's not working properly.

Your first version worked fine for calculating the time at the TO timezone. Now, with your new (simplified) logic, there's problems. Do some additional testing.

Keep at it --- you're so close.

Hope this helps a bit... there was only a slight problem... the date adjusting... Right, the date adjustment is not working yet, it seems to always say 0. Anyway, I like you program very much. I like the table of timezones displayed for the user, and I like the neatly formatted output. It compiled ...

Hey guys, is anybody working on a solution to this timezone problem?

If anybody has something in the works, please say so, because I'm ready to post my own version. I don't want to steal your thunder.

Seb, if you'd like my version in the meantime, send me your email address by PM.

Great issue, Pete! :D I'm still reading. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MystikShadows for his kind words about my tutorial on Data Validation Implementation on QB Express issue #11. That was me above. I had forgotten to log in. This condition brings to mind a "feature" that several forums have, which is, that when you are not logged in and attempt to post a reply, you are first asked to log in. Hmmmm, this also could be why we have so many "guest" posts. *****

Actually, guys, I didn't do much. I only told Pete about finding that different ways into the forum gave different log-in requirements. He actually went in, identified the problem, and fixed it. So, the thanks go to Pete.

CHALLENGE: Timezone calculator.

My son is in Japan this week participating in a Robocup (robots that play soccer) competition. Anyway, we in the family have a tough time figuring out what date and time it is over there. This made me think of a timezone calculator program. Note: This challenge recently appeared on other QB forums, ...

What I mean is... moneo: When you use the 'KEY ON' function inside a program (and have the keys set for different values), you can press F1 and the value set for F1 is returned. What I want is to be able to press F5 instead of ALT-122 (both examples) I read the manual about the KEY statement, like ...

Re: Shortcuts

.....Is there anyway to use the 'KEY ON' type commands in QBASIC so I don't have to keep typing in ASCII codes for everything? (Not in my program, while programming in QBasic.) If you don't want to keep typing ASCII codes, you could set up some contstants as follows: CONST K.BACK = 8 'Backspace Key...

Yeah, I've noticed that the double log in works too. (Thanks for the tip on behalf of the people that haven't figured that out though!) The strange thing is that sometimes the login works for me on the first attempt... Anyway, we were discussing this yesterday in this thread. :) http://www.petesqbs...

Having problems with Log in

It seems that some of us have trouble logging in.

I have found the following workaround solution:
- Click on "Log in"
- Enter name and password
- If the option still says "Log in", repeat above two steps.

The second "log in" has always worked for me.
