Actually, you may. Some DOSes I've worked with start up in Screen 12. It's there just in case you aren't in Screen 0.

You could put a small QB program in your autoexec:

Code: Select all

SCREEN 0
WIDTH 80, 50
SHELL
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to run dos in 50 lines now.

Not to mention you'd be taking analog signals in through the com port, so you'd have to convert the raw info coming in to a data format that you could work with, and then you'd either have to display it or compress & save it (direct saving would last maybe 10 seconds before a 2 gig hard drive wo...

Believe it or not, there's a slight holdover from GWBasic still in QBasic. If anyone remembers GW, there was the line of 'hotkeys' at the bottom. "KEY OFF" at the beginning of the program would turn that display off and allow you to PRINT to that line. This also fixes the line 25 scrolling...

The only thing ours doesn't do atm is make sure the new position can be reached by a straight line from the old position (impo...

Yes, but there's other concepts involved as well, such as collision detection, that are a little more in-depth. And there's ways to improve the performance of it a little as well.

Could you please swap out Squares for Future Siege (Link)?

Also, I'd like to request an article on time-based motion - it's one I've been wanting to do for a while, but haven't had the time for, and someone else probably knows more about it than I do.

I just worked it out though, and in order to be born in the last week of July, you'd have to be conceived around mid-october, not the end, unless you're 2 weeks early.

It really is the fork birthday months, what happens every year 9 months ago? matt That's what I'm trying to figure out - me and 2 other people on the same forum (and it's not a very big forum) all have July 24th as a birthday. The closest thing I can think of is H...

I'm still willing to host it and provide a few tiles myself, but being bogged down with other projects (I just got commissioned to write code for a small online game) someone else is going to have to code it.

I think the best way to implement the hand ranking would be as follows: 1) Determine WHAT the best hand the player has is. Assign these values in terms of 1000's: High Card: 0 One Pair: 1000 Two Pair: 2000 Three of a Kind: 3000 Straight: 4000 Flush: 5000 Full House: 6000 Four of a Kind: 7000 Straigh...
