I have added QBDF #3 & #4. Also, I have made headway on VSNews. I found out about the following issues: # VS Newsletter 1 (Jul 13th, 1998) # VS Newsletter 2(?) (Nov 1st 1998) # VSNews 3 (Nov 8th 1998) # VSNews 4 (Dec 13th 1998) # VSNews 5(?) (Jan 18th, 1999) I'm not sure if this is a complete li...

Thanks for the QBDF issues! I'll post 'em tomorrow. Wow, I didn't even know QBDF had more than the first 2 issues. As for QB.Source 1, I'm not sure what you mean: Btw, i think Qb.Scene 1 is in the articles folder. it's called index. That i believe is qb.scene 1, since it seems to have a similiar for...

Awesome!

I assumed #5 was gone because Barok wrote this on the Tek-Tips board last October:
Barok wrote:dave wrote me back, and he told me that qb on acid no longer exists... he told me that the cd it was on must have been corrupted by the ocean air. too bad. it was a great publication... :*(

Hundreds of QB Tutorials

In the front page news, I've been promising a big update to the tutorials section for a while. Well, it's coming. And here's proof. Over the last several weeks, I've been collecting QB tutorials to add to this site. I have gotten a whole lot of them...I'm not sure how many (I haven't counted, but I'...

The camera is the area of your map that you can see. Say your map is 200 tiles wide by 100 tiles high, and your tiles are 20*20 pixels. If you're using Screen 13, you'll only be able to see a grid of 16 tiles wide by 10 high. That's a whole lot smaller than the total size of your map. At any particu...

By the way, I was wondering about a few issues that were curiously missing from the archive: -Issue #14 of the BASIX Fanzine was missing in your archive... You had an issue labeled as 14, but it was actually a second copy of a different issue. Could you check and see if you have issue 14? -QB.Scene ...

Nice to hear your approval! I was worried you'd be angry that I used your work on my site. :) What you did with the magazine archive was incredible. They're such a valuable resource to the QB community. I'll admit, I probably wouldn't have even thought of a "QB Zines" section if it weren't...

I haven't checked out The ARC Legacy in years, so I'm not gonna answer your ARC question now... but I can give your first two questions a shot. In all the tutorials i can find all the map data and tilesets are hard coded into the game...I don't want that...I wanna load a map and tilesets. This is no...

Hey, Nek: I'm wondering if this "Efnet QB Diskmag" ever actually got produced, or if it just died during production of its first issue? Do you remember anything about it? In issue 2 of QBOA, you reported: DISKMAG SPOTTED! With all the gripes about the Razor diskmag as of late, another disk...

Geez, with all this talk of QB Magazines, I'm seriously thinking about starting my own....

I know it's probably not a good idea and would take a ton of work.... but the idea is really alluring right now. Heheheh.

Yeah, I was actually searching the QB News boards earlier today for info about the lost magazines, and did a "QBOA" search. I found out all about issues 10 & 11, and I even listed them on the Zines section as "Missing." Anyway, do you have copies of those issues that you coul...

Just in case you guys are interested, I've been sending out emails to the different editors to see if they've got copies of the missing QBasic magazines. I've emailed the following: -- Nekrophidius - QB On Acid -- I emailed Nek, but he posts on this board pretty regularly...and even replied to this ...

I have just done a big overhaul on the Zines section. I added a few paragraphs of description for each magazine there, and also put the magazine's logo in the description text. (Some of the logos are a bit too wide, though, so if you're using a resolution lower than 1024x768 it might look a little f...

Actually, upload the whole kit and kaboodle -- your sprites, masks and the source code that's giving you trouble.

Somebody will definitely take a look at it!

Maybe you should even post your source code in this forum.

I don't know if this tutorial will be of any help, but you might want to check it out:

The bottom section discusses simple sprite masking techniques.

Yeah, definitely! I found issues 6-8 earlier tonight (after I posted that news) on Archive.org's Wayback Machine. But I definitely would like any issues you have that I don't. (The issues 6-8 that I found had some images, but not all of them.) I also just found out about another QB magazine: Terry C...

I still see hype over Tsugumo's The Game , and if I remember correctly, it was a tile by tile engine with one town and a cemetery....and a few NPCs. It had great graphics and witty dialogue, but it really was nothing to write home about. But that games was (and still is) worshipped. Syraphage had th...
