If you use allegro instead, yes, you can sell your game without paying royalties and it is cross-platform. Also, for PP256, check out http://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5415.

How did you overclock yours? Do you have a tutorial / website for it? I want to overclock it as it has a great fan and vents, (it's case is OPEN most of the time, ) so it would work. What do you think would be a safe speed to clock it to? Sorry for all the questions, I feel like a noob... but....

You can set up the environment for her by teaching her how to double click qb.exe and then pressing F5 to run her code. To download QB, go to qbnz.com, software section, and download qb version 4.5 and unzip it.

I have a sempron, and I love it. Powerful, 1.8 ghz, cool, and it was only $120USD. Much better than my laptop's 600mhz, my other PC's 500mhz, and my old laptop's 133mhz.

As I have no knowledge of this, I will pitch in on something I do know. DOS can be emulated very well with DOSbox, you may want to give it a try on your XP show.

Future Library is way too slow to use high-res games. If you are making a game in QB, port it to FB. It will run on linux, windows, and DOS, plus it will run about 500x faster at high-res modes. Support for BMPs are added too.

Check it out at freebasic.net!

I prefer RelLib for GFX only, as it is unmatched in speed. However, if you need sound and GFX, use DirectQB. If you want to use resolutions greater than 320x200, use Future or ugl (Useless Game Library). If you expect to games with this, forget it because it's too slow and won't even work on new PC'...

If you do have an issue, use DosBOX: the best DOS emulator ever (next to FreeDOS, but that's an OS by iteself).
