He said download PixelPlus 256. Excellent pixel art program, although as far as I know, you can only use the graphics it makes in Screen 13... which is pretty much the standard for QB games.

o yeah is there an easier way to do graphics than using that data table thingy because it takes forever to draw 1 small picture
Look in the tutorials on Pete's site, specifically on commands like BSAVE, BLOAD, GET, PUT, and stuff like that.

Yes, but often times libraries are written in a different programming language, especially assembly, to make things like drawing graphics really fast, or to do things like sound and music that would otherwise take a lot of study and expermentation.

Right click on the file you want to download, click Save Target As..., then put it wherever. Then open QB up, click on File...Open, and open the file. Simple.

Okay, quick question... is this gonna mess with my system files? I don't wanna have what happened a few days ago (Blue, a QBGUI, messed around with my system files and windows wouldn't load, and I didn't know the name of the exe (or have much command line skills)) happen again. Also, I don't have a ...

Well I changed one little thing in Config.sys and EMS is up and running! Thanks OldDosLover! :D As for the EXE's, I checked the attribute, and all it said was "A" which I assume means archived. And Seb, can I not just go "Start ---> Shut Down ---> Restart In MS-DOS Mode"? I'm run...

Can't Delete DOS EXE's... and setting EMM386 up...

Well, this has been aggrevating me for some time... I can't delete any DOS EXE's from Windows. This is annoying when I want to recompile something and use the same filename. I've even tried using the KILL command through QB, and I get a "Permission Denied" Error. I'm using Windows 98 SE. A...

Or perhaps a bit of a delay, though I'm not sure if you can do that (don't know about the software, heh) so that things don't get automatically posted and you can manually approve or delete them within that time... who knows.

Well, I don't think there's a "wrong" way to code a game engine. But I wasn't talking about battle engines, I meant walkaround engines. There's lots of tutorials on the subject of bitmapping on Pete's site. My suggestion: read as many of them as you can. If any of them say something differ...

Yeah, I use PixelPlus256 for graphics, and my own map editor. As DD quite rightly pointed out one day, if you can't code your own map editor, how are you gonna be able to code a game engine?

So now that you have PP256, you should also read some stuff on BLOAD and BSAVE.

The Secret of Cooey? If that's the case, the source is included. But, just for you, I'll tell ya. Yes, everything was bitmapped in an external program (tile/sprite editor, probably PixelPlus 256), BSAVEd, and then BLOADed by the game. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go read some of the t...
