Favorite browser?

Post by Patz QuickBASIC Creations »

Well, I was just curious...

For a small look at some different browsers other than the big 6 (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, and Safari), check out this handy page: http://browsers.evolt.org/ - it's a little outdated though, but it has older versions of Mosiac, the browser Microsoft took and #%$@ed up really bad...

That's Mosaic to you. :P But yeah, these threads are somewhat silly. Who really cares what browser J. Random uses? (Unless you're the one that has to clean up the mess when something breaks... :D ) If you're designing web pages, you can't ignore a major browser just because "it si teh sux" - and there's no way that every single non-standards-compliant browser user will switch to a better one. See also the Viewable with Any Browser campaign. Anyway, my old favorite is Opera, but I've been using Firefox for a while for no real reason. I'm getting pretty tired of the bloat and bugs, so I'm probably going to head back to Opera in the near future, especially now that it is ad-free.

I mostly use Opera, because it is faster than IE and compatible with most sites. Recent versions still work on older versions of Windows as well, unlike IE 7/8, which require XP or later.
