Allow me to intruduce myself.

Post by Jony_Basic » Tue Jun 27, 2006 4:01 am

Greetings to everyone at Pete's QBASIC Site Forum.

I'm new to the forum (didn't know it even existed), but I have read basicaly every tutorial on the site.
I notice some of my friends from another forum that may recognise me

I'm a Qbasic game programmer, and I've been learning QB for about 4 years.
I have started a project called "The Sword of Arisan"

If you can't tell by the name, it's an RPG game and I do believe that a game of this type in particular has never quite been succesfully
completed in QB.

It will be:

-top side view, 45* angle (not to be confused with top down view)

-screen mode 13h

-full pixel by pixel controll/movement of the game character

-true pixel by pixel scrolling

-monsters! (gotta have monsters!)

-quests (non-linear mostly)

-real time battles on the main map screen

-chibi anime sprite style

-RPG style stat building and item collecting

-believable story line

Now, I know there's someone out there saying "He doesn't know what
he's getting himself into" (Z!re)
But I assure you that I think I know exactly what I'm doing. Probably.
I was fortunately able to gather a team of 3 other programmers willing to
help on the project as well.

I don't have many screen shots up of the game, but there is one.
<a href=" ... enshots</a>

you can also check out the story line for the game in the projects tab.

Yeah, believe me, I know what its like to get critised for getting in over your head...I believe, m2j in particular over at was like...dude, coding your own PNG decoder? you're crazy, plus we already have these great libs

Anyways, so yeah, I completed it, and works with most PNGs...interlaced are kindov a hit or miss format...

So, if you need any help on this RPG [45 Degree angle camera view is called 2.5D BTW, you basically make the tiles appear to be at an angle, but in reality it is a top view scroller] just PM me...ttyl

"But...It was so beutifully done"
