COBOL is generally a mainframe language. However, there are some special implementations developed about 15 years ago, like Micro Focus COBOL, which were designed to run on PCs.

However, the Micro Focus version that I saw back in 1995, ran under Unix, and not Windows. They might also have a Windows version, and in which case, I assume you would specifiy your Windows version in the Environment Division.

Good luck, and regards..... Moneo

I think you can Mac...besides CONFIGURATION-SECTION is an optional one since COBOL 85.

I think it was a descriptive piece of information hence, could have any name.

Thanks! I last coded COBOL in 1968, so I wasn't sure if it still worked like before.
