I'm Arce...
O.o
Hello. I'm Arce. I was searching for some free sprites (yes, I am too lazy to make my own. ) and I saw http://www.petesqbsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=595. Well, i went there and it brought me to these forums. My site also uses these PHP forums, so I decided to sign up.
Anyway, by QBasic, do you mean Quick Basic? I have some previous knowledge with that, if that is what Qbasic is. When I was 8 I began making small games in it.
Isn't QBasic outdated? Last I knew it ran in DOS and couldn't support more than 16 colors. o.o
I'm a C++ programmer and am starting a new project in SDL. So if I don't exactly fit in here...sorry.

Re: I'm Arce...
Mmmhmmm, QuickBasic and QBasic are essentially the same thing. It does run in a DOS-based enviroment but works reletively well under Win XP [some programs will not work, especially those with out-dated sound routines, but that's to be expected.] In terms of out-dated-ness, its definitely nearly obsolete, but like *anything* there'll always be some sort of die-hard cult following. I personally enjoy the challenge of working in such a limited enviroment ... oh, and screen mode 13h can support 256 colors [allowing proggies graphically comparable to SNES-era games.]Arce wrote:Anyway, by QBasic, do you mean Quick Basic? Wow, I don't post every second on this message board, and you people go nuts. Shows the type of place this is...
I've had experience with BASIC languages, and enjoyed it. Because QBasic is outdated doesn't make me think lowly of it; don't act as though I am evil.
So, if you believed me to be gone and thought I'd only have posted once, why are you still bitching behind my back? Do you get off on the displeasure of others, or are you just an old fart that dislikes the World's youth? And I'm the one with issues...
Well, I'm sure glad that I am receiving such a warm welcome into these forums. thanks a bunch people. I'll be sure to keep this place in mind when I am referring other fellow programmers to online sources... D

Hmmm...or maybe I was thinking about switching to a BASIC language under the influence of people who have knowledge in QBasic. That, and a combination of boredom. He has issues, maybe a bad social life, and he was probably bored..

I am 'knocking' QB by asking if you are referring to the outdated QuickBasic? Wow, I've really got to be more careful with my words; I don't know what else offends you...Right. First he knocks QB, then says he doesn't fit here. So why did he post at all?

Sorry, we're used to people comming, making one post and demanding armies of coders to help them do their homework for them, and never comming back. After almost a year of these guys... Well, how much shit and disrespect are we supposed to take?Wow, I don't post every second on this message board, and you people go nuts. Shows the type of place this is...
Sorry if you got caught in the cross fire, caulty of war and all that...
Stick around if you feel like it, and you can vent your rage on some other "1337 coder of d00/\/\."

I was being a bit of an ass. Sorry about that...
I know the feeling, people do that all the time at thechaosrift.com. They talk a bit about programming for their dreamcast, make us help them get it working and setup their KOS and their Lynix shell, then they leave. o.o
Anyway, when I get some spare time, I will re-install the Qbasic envirnment and start doing some stuff. I am nearly a complete noob to Qbasic, so please don't expect much. I'd just like to use it for fun; as somebody previously mentioned, Qbasic is 'fun' to work with because of it's limitations. I am not going to discontinue SDL or anything, just kinda tinker with Qbasic.
