Hi everyone,

As some of you (maybe more than I think hehe) may know, ascii-world has, in the past few months, started an initiative called the ASCII-World S.D.I. (Software Development Initiative) at http://www.ascii-world.com . Well no later than today, the big wheel has started turning on this project. And well I need everyone's help.

As you know ASCII-World is all about Text/ASCII programs and games. If you have made a program (language and platform are irrelevant as long as they are text based programs or games) and would like it listed in our S.D.I. catalog, please let me know here, in this thread, in a PM if you prefer, email, or using the Contact Form on ASCII World so we can add them promptly. The same goes for text based programs and games in the making today as the S.D.I. also has a Projects section.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and let's all see how big the S.D.I. can get.

You can't have an ASCII site without giving some props to
one of the classic series of ASCII games... ZZT.

Where you control an ASCII character throughout the
land of ZZT, complete with sounds, and even its own
OOP language to control all the blocks for each level
to create some fairly decent interactiveness. (each char
could react independantly)

you're very right,

As such, I'm looking up some Reference on ZZT and other game creation systems and will create a Game Creator cateogory in the links to add them up there :-).

Thanks for reminding me, I knew about it, just never went ahead and added it.

Hey,
A couple years back I wrote a simple but solid text adventure called Fire From Heaven in QuickBasic 3.0. The zip is located at www.geocities.com/bdzao/ffhwr1.zip and a description and screen shot of it can be found at my games page: http://bdz.bravehost.com/games.htm
Thanks.
