Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer:
QBasic is old and doesnt make a decent earning for Microsoft,
so it sticks to Visual Studio. while this is a fact, Microsoft
surely made it Public Domain to gain credit and have more
customers. thats all.

That FAKE letter has been around for years!

M$ never dropped the Copyrights for QBasic or Quickbasic! While Qbasic was always free, Quickbasic is not and is no longer sold. It still is illegal to use if you did not buy it!

But they don't really care about personal use. It was inevitable that it would be passed around like most other software.

I am a bit confused: you said that the letter is fake, I googled for it, but I haven't found any reference about that.

I find another copy of that letter here: http://www.techreplies.com/software-app ... ic-601456/

How do you know that the letter is fake? Do you know about an official denial by Microsoft? Has it fallen in prescription?

Thanks

Because that is the ONLY letter I have ever seen!

Find me another one... People do commit fraud on the web.

Go to Microsoft if you must. I've found no such release.

Use it, just don't host a download site or sell a copy. They
have been known to try to shut down sites!

Ted

PS: M$ makes NO revenue from Quickbasic since it has not been sold
in more than 10 years.

Hmm ... I guess it's first time when Miscosoft released something into public domain...
