Error handling in Freebasic

Hi there
I tried a QBasic style error handling subroutine in FBasic and received the message
Illegal without the -ex option, found: 'Resume'
In the Help section under RESUME, it explains that I must compile with - ex option.
I have no idea what that means. Can someone perhaps explain?
