What kind of update? It still works OK. What do you need?

Is the link to QBASICS.zip in your signature, the converted version, for qb64 ? that would be a good announcement, or updateburger2227 wrote:What kind of update? It still works OK. What do you need?

No it is just BAS files. All chapters work in QB64 except for Chapter 15 which uses Interrupt and Absolute functions not finished in QB64.
The only problem is that SCREEN 13 pages are kinda small. They can be converted to larger sizes with a bit of work.
It is a Bitly link to a Drop Box so that I know how many times it has been downloaded.

Ok, thanks, I downloaded it,..to see, however, with qb64 for linux, I ran into some problems, because Linux dose not use batch files,...I am going to try to see if I can figure out, or if anyone experienced with qb64 for Linux an help me figure out how we can get it working with qb64 for linux, since it works now, for qb64 for windows, (except chapt 15,as you say),
I do have a windows XP ,installed, with qb64,on a seperate partition, but have been having a lot of trouble with it,...qb64 is not running right, on that
Maybe if and when I get the chance I can fix it.
thanks on the reply,...
I have not been on at qb64.net for awhile now, but I kind of doubt I would get much help there on this,..but still in my opinion, it is about the best tutorial I have seen for starting out with qbasic, and is also very useful with qb64 too,..

You don't need to use the batch files. Those are just for Qbasic. Try compiling them in Linux with QB64. Does CHAIN work in Linux?

Compile Qbasics.bas first. It may create a shortcut on you desktop too.
CHAIN should compile chapters as you go. Chapter 15 will not work well.
According to the WIKI, CHAIN won't work in Linus so you'll have to run each chapter separately.

I saw that too, at net54,
Qbasics did compile, and it runs, but only up to where it shows the index, when I select which chapter, it stops there,.. however, each chapter dose run fine, if compiled individually,....So that is pretty good,..once I compile each one, it will be easy, because then they are all on a "desktop" of sorts, and do run, all I have to do is select which chapter I want to look at, and 'click" it,...
Sometime ago, I found I can have 2 instances, of qb64 running side by side, so now I can run for example, chapter 2, start qb64 ,and have the ide,(editor) on the right side, and the chapter,on the left side,..this is kind of neat, because then I can look at the code in the chapter,on the left side, and type in what I want , ,in the qb64ide, on the right side
...maybe I need to make a screen shot, explain or show what I mean,...later I will,..this was something I never had been able to do with windows, maybe it can be done, but I never could.

This forum has become a satellite of QB64 forum. We could use an update in participation around here! All I do anymore is control spammers.
Is there anybody, here, who still use qbasic? Or everybody uses qb64? Because, for qb64 users, there is no point in using this forum.
Also, the site is almost dead; the last update is from five years ago... ok, most of the other qbasic site have been turned down, so being still online is already a good result, but dead sites can still be browsed trough internet archive... and there is no real difference in browsing them, or petesqbsite (the link section, for example, has a lot of dead link, the webring doesn't work...)
Also, this forum is really disappointing: if I take some time to write a post, when I click "submit" it won't work, and it will ask me to log in again..... LOSING EVERYTHING I WROTE.
Now, I know it, so I always use copy and paste, but a newcomer would be discouraged and, instead of rewriting all the post, will leave the forum forever, cursing it.

When you log in, check the stay logged in box.
When posting it is a good idea to preview before hitting Submit. I've never lost a post message.
The QB64 Forum no longer allows off topic conversation, no talking about anything but QB64. The code and help from this site can be used for Qbasic or QB64 so both are relevant.
Nice to see you again!

Any one still use qbasic
I still have Dos (free dos) and qbasic, on one computer, a older one, in fact I was using just the other day. But yea , to be honest, mostly I use qb64, however most of the code I use is more qbasic, then the newer commands, that have been added to qb64,...
then I am sorry, and won't bring up qb64 anymore,????
I enjoy qbasic with DOS as well , and am still struggling to learn more about either one,
I would also like to see more activity here,..new things, etc,..

I was kind of under the impression, it was ok, to include qb64 here,...but if it isn't, oh well ,Is there anybody, here, who still use qbasic? Or everybody uses qb64? Because, for qb64 users, there is no point in using this forum.

Re: Been a real long time
lmao..ooops BUSTED.. I confess we all use qb64 but aren't allowed general discussion and sounding space for idea development there, so we are orphans in some since but overall are better off for it.(better vibe). just to much religious espionage and emphasis on ritualistic kissing the a$$ of hierarchy Bs.. here you can still use qb64 contribute to "a" basic community sound ideas with other like minds and still get advice from "the" authority in the field. if you don't know mod burger here is clippy there. the creator/keeper of the qb64wiki.. which is it's official how-to.. so here we just kiss cli....sorry
there are many basics each have their virtues/flaws. most of us use the language best fit to needs of projects but it's true a good batch of 64ers come here.

What is with this re-login stuff? It's terrible!
I agree with the living dead part. My QB site has been up for 15 years now as well but there hasn't been many updates lately. I'm still around. I just haven't been using QB lately.

Oh wow, that relog issue is still around? I remember that from when I joined here. Which I believe to be sometime slightly after the inventions of round wheels and fire.

For any grievances posted above, I blame whoever is in charge . . .

Apparently a phpBB problem. Pete upgraded the site last year, but it still errors when posting for no good reason too. I don't lose the text I entered however so I must be doing something right.
