| First Impression |
This is a big improvement over the first version of SonicX that I reviewed! Better graphics, level editor, and a better engine than the original. (You can read the first review if you want to. It's listed under the 'Demos' subheading.) You jump around, just like in the Sega Genesis version(s) of Sonic the Hedgehog with the same character graphics. Read on!

| Other things you should know |
Copy of the Genesis game 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Also, in this version, when you don't press anything for a while, Sonic looks at you and taps his foot! (Not significant, just cool.) Also, the level editor is very cool! I'd like to see the final version of this game with...ACTUAL LEVELS YOU CAN COMPLETE! But this is a very good program! I like how the engine isn't based on PUTting pre-drawn pictures, but does lightning fast line and paint statements. However this does make the graphics kind of simple...

Sonic is Sonic from the Genesis emulator, as Joe mentioned before. This is top-notch, because it was done by proffesionals. The background graphics are crappy because of the way the engine works, which I can understand. Not perfect, though. Some graphics are stolen and the background graphics aren't the best. Pretty good, though!

A MIDI from some game...not sure which, but I think it's from a Sonic game. Nice, though.

| Gameplay/Control |
This has better control than some other QB side scrollers. (QB is a bit too slow for keyboard input on it's own.) However, this is better and faster than some other QB action games, so it's nothing to sniff at!

| Flexiblity/Features |
The actual game doesn't have many features (it's a side scoller demo for God's sake), but this handy zip file includes a level editor with many features, and with the level editor, you can make all the level features that you want. Not enough stuff in the main program, but a lot of extra stuff to fix that problem.

| Overall Impression |
This is a four star game all the way across, I guess. There are quite a few downfalls, but more good points to make it very nice. I suggest that you try it and decide for yourself. It's a very good engine example for people who want to make their side scollers simplistically without engines. Try it!
