Hi, Pete here. You may have noticed that if you go to Pete's QBASIC Site (http://petesqbsite.hypermart.net), you get a 403 error. That is because Hypermart had blocked access to the files on my account. Hypermart disabled my account today. Why, you ask? Well, I was linking to a site that distributed QuickBASIC 4.5 in my compilers page. In Hypermart's terms of service, they don't let you host or link to sites that host illegal software. (Warez) My account will be deleted in 38 hours, 31 minutes (from now, 9:28 PM EST). That is...unless I can talk Hypermart in to re-enabling my account before that time runs out. I have emailed them, and I am waiting for a reply to see what they have to say about this. If they do not re-enable my account, I will lose most of the updates since I last made a back-up copy, which was about a month and a half ago. That's a lot of updates, because this site is updated daily. I can not access the files in any way to make back-up copies of them now, so if my account stays disabled, all of that work will be lost, plus my server and address. But all is not lost! If the worst does happen, Marcade has offered me account at quickbasic.com, or at one of his other servers. This would mean more adds, but also that I would have to update completely by FTP. (Not hard, but time consuming. Oh well.) At any rate, I'll try to get the site back up -- somewhere -- as soon as possible. I'm just filling you in on this, and want to warn you about the dangers of hosting/linking to versions of QBASIC other than 1.1 on your sites, and also so that you know what is going on with my site. If you would like to go the Qboard (which can not be deleted by Hypermart), go to this address: http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi?id=35757 -Pete petesqbsite@hotmail.com Oh yeah, if Hypermart decides not to re-enable my account, you can direct your flame and hate mail to: webmaster@hypermart.net Just kidding. :)
