Line 10, Search function! Change it from "If findText$ = midiStr$ THEN" to "If findText$ = midStr$ THEN". Not it's now midStr$, not midiStr$. Of course, you have to type the whole name, but you can use the instr function to fix that..... -- - Michael Astrauskas (AKA Julian/Trevie-san), ICQ UIN: 1946065 (Trevelyan) -------------------------------------------------- 3. The Final Say From: Jeff Rapp Date: Sunday, August 09, 1998 10:30 PM Hi all. It's time for me again. Recently there has been an "uproar" over the QBasic Top 50 issue and QuickBasic 4.5 and PDS. Steve Martin, the webmaster of the QBasic Top 50 received a phone call from a group of people that are going to have all of the QBasic site that host QB 4.5 shut down, and there going to get help from the big-boys them selves. Microsoft. Really, I don't want to see this happen. So I mailed the list of people on the QBasic LinkExchange (quick plug http://qble.hypermart.net ) about this issue. Here are some of the replies that I received: |From: HP2000c@aol.com |"Wow! That is serious! Those people are full of it, telling Microsoft and all! |Microsoft shouldn't be so hard on you or any of the QBasic web sites! That is |not fair, Microsoft should not sue, they should just ask all sites with QB 4.5 |or linking to it to remove it from the site!" | |From: stark@plvwtelco.net |" I've seen that message three times today. I think it's bull. Why doesn't |microsoft at least distribute it? Well, they sell it on the net, and it's |not cheap. Last time I looked, $110 bucks, just for 4.5. I can get visual |basic 5.0 pro for only $85, and it's a lot lot better than that. They |should at least put it out in stores or put it on with there new systems. |It doesn't come with dos anymore. | Well, a couple of days ago, I was messing around(surfing) on the net, and |I ran across a petition for qbasic4.5+, so I signed it. Looking at this, |and at all of the visitors I get each day, I could get thousands of people |to sign my own, so I made one. I don't have a link from my site yet, but |here it's at | |http://members.tripod.com/~qbsc/petition.htm | | Please sign it and tell others about it. I'm going to try to get other |people to add a link to it on there pages too. I know this probably won't |pursuade ms even a bit, but heck, it's worth a try. I've gotta talk to |Martin about this, and see what he knows. Well, see ya" | |From: Connor Reynolds |"Hi. | |Just a few notes about your earlier message... | |In all honesty, I think it is about bloody time someone did something |about this. We are hurting ourselves, because we are here to make our |own software, while some of the people are pirating the software of |others (even worse, it is what we use to create our software!). I do |think, however, we should plan a big attack on MicroSoft to try to |convince them to either support QB or release it as freeware, or do |something. We are stuck in limbo, and something needs to be done. | |-=Connor=-" Well, that's all I have to say about that. In other news, PLEASE remember to start you message subject with QB:!!!! That will save alot of hassle on my behalf. Thank You all. Jeff Rapp jrapp@geocities.com
