Done with finals....updates will begin again soon
I just finished my last final today, but I'll be at college until Saturday morning. So in that time, I'm gonna probably relax for a while, then maybe work a bit on this website. Oh! RETURN OF THE KING -- was amazing. I saw it this morning at 12:01AM...first showing, and it is honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen. The battle sequence in the middle of the film, which is close to an hour long is undoubtedly the best battle sequence in film history. It was just so beautiful, amazing graphics, cool effects, great acting, and more... much more. Then I got back at 4:30 in the morning and had to write a twelve page research paper that was due at 5:00PM today...finished it ten minutes before it was due and got the running shoes on to get it to my professor on time. Damn U.S. Politics....worst. class. ever. Which, is in contrast to ROTK, which is... the best. movie. ever. (It's up there at least.)

You know what was funny? The episode of Pinky and the Brain where the theme song went "They're Pinky and the Brain"... like normal, then out of nowhere another mouse pops his head in and says "and Larry".. and after each line. It was funny. At the time. Anyway, I'm really tired. Maybe next time I'll actually update the site and tell you something about QB.

Lots of little updates...
I have reformatted and uploaded about half of the random miscellaneous sections that used to be in the site. I'm working on getting all of the old content back up with the new format...then I'll go through and edit it and improve it. The biggest, most important section, The Reviews...they're gonna be last to be put back up, after everything else on the site is nice and neat. There's so much to do, but I'm working quite diligently here. This is finals week at College, and I have two big papers to write (for Monday and Wednesday) and a big final on Tuesday. Other than that, I'm off scott free until the end of January! So...Pete's QBASIC Site will undoubtedly be making its grand reopening by then. Hopefully on January 1st...we'll see.

I got the links script working...
Now there is a dynamic, automated link script managing all of the links in the links section, and also running the "QB Site of the Moment" box in the right column. The box is run by a little tiny PHP script that randomly picks a link out of the database and "features" it. The same thing goes for the Featured QB Command. As for the Latest Review box--I think I'll make that actually the latest review submitted to the site (as long as people actually submit reviews...we'll see after this site opens.) If we get a review every couple weeks or so, then I'll make it the latest review. Otherwise, it's gonna be a random "featured" review from the database.

Updates will be coming eventually.....
I'm hoping to get this site finished and completely back-to-new by January 1 2004. That is the official reopening day. There's SOOOOO much to do if I'm gonna get this site the way I envisioned it a few days ago. A lot of nitpicky CGI script editing, which is never fun. Anyway....I've done a bit of work in the last three days... I took one of the icons from the site (the Pikachu-esque character from Secret of Cooey 2), and made it the FAVORITES ICON for this site...simply because it was just about the only one that was small enough to actually fit the 16x16 restriction. Anyway...this is my last week of classes in college, and next week is finals week. Updates will be sparse until About next Thursday. But that doesn't matter, since I'm talking to myself here. I haven't told anyone about this site except for those who know me personally. Once I redirect the old sites here, I'll add hit counters and site stats graphs and such... It's coming along, people! But I have class in ten minutes....gotta go!

Welcome to the new Pete's QBASIC Site!
Pete's QBASIC Site is back.....and currently going through huge, super, extreme renovations. When I am finished with this site, it should be pretty friggin amazing, really customizable, and very dynamic. It also won't require regular updates from me to stay updated -- the visitors will be able to add everything from links (and link reviews--which will be a new feature), file reviews, tutorials, and more!

Although the site hasn't been updated in almost three years, it will be back and better than ever!

Pete's Turtle Fable
I once saw a turtle cross the road. It was slow, sure, and wasn't really all that attractive, but by god, it was determined. It crept slowly and surely, always keeping its eye on that distant goal--the other side of the road, where the grass was greener, the sun was brighter and the air smelled like warm root beer. Yeah, that turtle sure kept at it, plodding along as fast as its little legs could carry it, with a look of sheer determination in his eye. And then, when he was almost there, the turtle stopped to look back at how far he'd come, how much he'd accomplished. As he looked back, a tear welled up in his eye and he thought "Look what I've done -- I, a lowly turtle have achieved so much." Proudly, the turtle turned back to finish its journey, now almost complete, when an eighteen wheeler came barreling down the highway, instantly crushing the turtle then proceeding to roll over it eight more times with each of the remaining wheels on that side of the truck. Yes, the turtle died that day, but in doing so set an example for all the other turtles out there who ever had dreams of crossing that wide, perilous highway--if something looks impossible to do, it probably is. Don't try something that looks difficult or has never been done before, because you're probably not going to succeed. In fact, don't even think about trying. You'll fail miserably, you worthless piece of scum.
